Hastelloy B3 Alloy
Common Trade Names: Hastelloy B3; Alloy B3
HASTELLOY B-3 alloy designated as UNS N10675 is a nickel-molybdenum alloy with excellent resistance to hydrochloric acid at all concentrations and temperatures. It also withstands sulfuric, acetic, formic and phosphoric acids, and other nonoxidizing media. B-3 alloy has a special chemistry designed to achieve greater thermal stability than B-2 alloy, resulting in easier fabrication.
Properties:
- B-3 alloy has excellent resistance to pitting corrosion, to stress-corrosion cracking and to knife-line and heat-affected zone attack
- B-3 alloy has a special chemistry designed to achieve a level of thermal stability greatly superior to that of its predecessors, e.g. HASTELLOY B-2 alloy
- Resists hydrochloric acid at all concentrations and temperatures
- Withstands wet HCl gas, sulfuric, acetic and phosphoric acids
- Excellent resistance to pitting and to stress corrosion cracking
Typical Applications:
- Acetic acid production, initial phase in presence of iodide catalyst
- Methyl methacrylate production with hot 98 % H2SO4
- Production of herbicides, insecticides, ethylene glycol and ethyl benzene
Product Forms:
- Sheets, strips, Plates
- Bars
- Pipes, tubes
- Wire
Hastelloy B3 Alloy is a Registered Trademarks of Haynes International and its subsidiaries.
